Bipolar Disorder: You are not alone
Bipolar is a mental health disorder and affects about 8 million Americans. It is characterized as having extreme mood swings between highs (manic state) and lows (depression state).
There are two types of Bipolar, 1 and 2, and it all depends on the intensity of a person's manic state that will categorize them into one type. |
Lithium is the most common antipsychotic medication to treat bipolar. It is used to even out the mood swings and is also an ongoing treatment. It can take a couple weeks for this medication to take effect and even several months for the mood swings to be completely controlled. Click on the links above for more information on Lithium.
My name is Beth and I am currently in my 3rd quarter of nursing school at MSB college. I served 7 years in the Air Force and just got out last March. I currently work at a memory care facility and have been there for 2 years. When I graduate from nursing school I would like to either be a mental health or hospice nurse.
